Be a Role model for your teen: Reinforce basic driving skills and good decision making which will lead to safe driving habits for your child. Here are some suggestions:
- When you drive, make sure you set a good example to your child. For example, you should wear your seat belt, avoid rolling through stop signs and accelerating through yellow lights.
- It's important to plan practice sessions. Decide where to go and what skills you will practice before setting out. Focus on teaching one or two skills per session.
- Your attitude toward driving is very important! Show and courtesy toward other drivers to set a good example for your teen.
